File Workspace Access Issues (AC1)
- Problem with setting up WebDAV connectivity for some Windows XP users (ongoing) (AC2)
- Issue relating to Windows security patch MS05-008 (890047) released on Feb. 8, 2005 (--posted / SusanTurnbull / PeterYim / 2005.03.03) (AC4)
- on 2005.03.03, a user (who works on a Windows 2000 platform) reported that the access to her cwe's file workspace, which used to work normally, has stopped working. (AC6)
- her IT department helped isolate the problem and identified that to be the result of the application of the Windows security patch related to "drag-and-drop vulnerability" as per MS05-008 (890047) released on Feb. 8, 2005 - see: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS05-008.mspx (AC7)
- the short of it is: on the particular machine in question, "drag-and-drop" between one's desktop to the file workspace no longer works, but the normal cut-and-paste routines ("ctrl-c/ctrl-v"; or, highlight file | edit | copy, then go to the shared file folder, and then do an edit | paste) would still work. Treat this as the work-around. (AC8)
- it is noted also, that not ALL Win2000 machines behave like this. We have known cases of machines, both on Windows 2000 and Windows XP and have had this 890047 patch applied, that will still function properly, and would still support drag-and-drop of files between one's machine and the shared file workspace on the WebDAV server.
